Original side blown bamboo flutes featuring 4, 5, 6, and 7 hole tunings by Thomas Richardson Music. Tuned in A440HZ to Pentatonic minor, Arabian minor, Egyptian minor, and exotic Raga scales from India. In my home studio/workshop, I cure Chinese gold, and tan bamboo species in various diameters throughout the year. Every week I am building bamboo flute orders for customers around the world. When I build your flute, I will select and cut the bamboo, calculate and mark the holes according to scale and key and then drill the emboucher (breath hole) and the finger holes. I size the holes through burning with a selection of custom burning rods heated from burning fire. I burn the bore of each flute. After burning the bore, the bore is then colored in burgundy like the Chinese master flute builders do on certain styles of flutes. Every flute features hemp or bamboo thread bindings. The steps in the process take a number of days with drying time and or carving time and there are orders in the cue ahead of yours so please be patient we are going as fast as we can. These are hand made bamboo flutes with much care and time going into each creation. Many of my bamboo flutes are based on the David Carradine flute design where the bamboo flute can rest on the left shoulder like a violin and the flute has a sound chamber above the breath hole that simply acts as a shoulder rest. I've been building David Carradine style flutes since 2006 before his untimely passing. My bamboo flutes are built in the ancient tradition of the master flute builders from China, Japan, and India and inspired by Kung Fu practices and masters, Eastern mysticism and Yogic masters throughout the ages. David Carradine and his flute designs have been a huge influence on my flute building career.
